Tummy Time

So I know that you're suppose to have "tummy time" everyday, but Ruth Ann really hates to be on her tummy. Here's how tummy time started today. She looks seemingly happy...but wait...

Here's how tummy time ended...how can anyone leave a baby red faced and lying on her tummy?? Ruth Ann was promptly picked up and was not required to have any more tummy time for the rest of the day.

12 weeks old & our biggest bow yet...

I can hardly believe Ruth Ann is 12 weeks old. I was putting a photo album together this past weekend and started looking back at her newborn pictures. It's amazing how much she has changed since she was born. Thankfully she is on a consistent schedule that I think will work out great when I start back to work next week. Last weekend my mom brought Ruth Ann her biggest bow to date....I love it!

Lacie helps with bath time

I mentioned Lacie's curiousity in bath time a few weeks ago. Tonight as I was preparing Ruth Ann's bath, Lacie joined me in the bathroom. I grabbed my camera to have it ready incase I could get a cute shot of Lacie and Ruth Ann together...mission accomplished. I had covered Ruth Ann to protect her modesty, but someone is a wiggle worm and had the wash cloth off before I realized it. When you're getting a picture of a cat and a baby together it's hard to pay attention to all the details and your window of opportunity is very small!

Play time

We received this toy gym from my Aunt Liz shortly after Ruth Ann was born. I put her under it several times and didn't really think she was enjoying it. This week I decided to get it back out and wow...what a difference a few weeks makes. She LOVES it now. She'll lye under it and kick and hit the toys and watch as the lights flash above her. It's so exciting to see her become aware of her surroundings. She's smiling and cooing and interacting with us more and more every day. I have one more week of maternity leave and am beginning to realize how much I'm going to miss spending all day with her. She's going to be with Arch's parents, so I know she'll be well taken care of and loved. I'm going to miss this baby girl like crazy!

11 weeks old

Today I decided to get a few dresses out and take a couple of pictures. I bought the white dress last summer and thought it could perhaps be an Easter dress for this year, but now I'm not sure she'll still be able to wear it. The green dress was a gift from my cousins John & Leigh Hudon. She looks cute in both...but I'm a little partial!

These very precious shoes were a gift from my mom's friend and her daughter. Ruth Ann wore them home from the hospital. I mentioned them in one of my previous posts, but never took a picture of them. I LOVE them!

Visit from Grammy & Grumpy

On Valentine's Day my parents came by for a quick visit after dinner. Here is Ruth Ann with her Grammy & Grumpy. My dad has been undecided for the last year about what he wants Ada and Ruth Ann to call him. He has mentioned wanting to Papaw (which is what his father was called by me and my cousins), however, I think Grumpy is a cute name and if you know my dad you know the name fits!

You can tell by this picture that all this visiting really wore this baby girl out!

Ruth Ann at Riverbanks Zoo

For those of you who grew up in the Columbia area I'm sure you have visited Riverbanks Zoo. My childhood is filled with memories of school trips, church day camp trips and family outings to Riverbanks. Now Ruth Ann will get to have those same memories...starting the next time she visits since she slept through her first zoo trip!

This is the first sign of spring that I've seen in Columbia!

This is Mason, he belongs to my friend Brantley. He looks so grown up and very cool with his Tigger shades on!

Ruth Ann visits the Woody family

A few weeks ago Ruth Ann and I ventured across town to visit my friend Jeannie and her girls Ava and Jenna. Jeannie is a fellow audiologist who I worked with until she had her twin daughters 4 years ago. I can't believe so much time has passed since she and I worked together. It feels like last week that she was sitting in our office, pregnant with the girls and now her 4 year-old daughter (Jenna) is holding Ruth Ann...time is going by way too quickly in my old age!

2 months old!

Ruth Ann celebrated her 2 month birthday this week. We celebrated with a trip to the doctor. Ruth Ann weighed in at 10.6 lbs (44th percentile) and 23 ins long (88th percentile). At 2 months some of Ruth Ann's accomplishments are picking her head up and holding it much more steady on her own, smiling (which I'm excited about) and most importantly...longer periods of sleep during the night hours. I love that she's smiling now...it's so rewarding to see that gummy smile.

A baby burrito

Ingredients:

1 flannel receiving blanket
1 waffle blanket
1 Sleep Sheep...thanks Aunt Andrea
1 pacifier

This combo has made for much improved nap times & Ruth Ann is sleeping from 12pm to 5:30ish. I'm still hoping she'll increase this sleep time before I go back to work in a few weeks.

Griff & Ruth Ann

Griff is growing much more quickly than anyone could have predicted. He's 3 1/2 months old and weighed in at 36 lbs at his last vet visit! Even the vet was astonished. Here's his lastest picture and a picture with Ruth Ann. Thankfully she's not growing as rapidly as he is.

Ruth Ann chats with Grammy

This past Saturday my mom stopped by for a visit. I'm starting to regret not having more pictures of Ruth Ann with family members and especially with myself. I haven't felt I was "photo ready" since I'm still trying to get rid of this baby weight. I'm afraid I'm going to look back and regret not having many pictures of us together. Anyway, while my mom was holding Ruth Ann I took the opportunity to get a few pictures. I love how Ruth Ann looks like she's paying attention to everything my mom is saying to her. I know they'll have many more heart to heart conversations.

Ruth Ann is perfect!

It's official...Ruth Ann is PERFECT! Well, a perfect balance of me and Arch. I would have made a bet that she would have looked 100% like her daddy, but somewhere there are traces of me too! I'm going to repeat it when she gets older to see if the balance changes any.
