Big Catch!

Here's a picture of the shark my brother caught at the beach. My brother wanted it made very clear that Spencer did not catch this shark, however, I wanted a picture of Spencer with the fish not Adam and the fish.

Spencer & Ada

Here's a picture of Spencer and my niece Ada at the beach. This pictures makes me so happy because I loved watching Spencer interact with Ada. It just confirms what I already knew...Spencer is going to be a GREAT big brother!

My mom thinks Ada has my eyes and according to her predictions this may be what Ruth Ann will look like. This is a picture of Ada sucking on some rib bones...she definitely eats like she could be a McCarty!

Am I showing yet??

So I've had several friends who live out of town and haven't gotten a chance to see me pregnant ask whether or not I'm showing. I don't think I am, but you decide. Here is a picture from a week and half ago (I was 19 weeks pregnant). From left to right there is me (of course), my friends Sally, Auralee (who is having a baby boy the beginning of September, we're at her baby shower in this picture) and Brantley. We all play on the same tennis team and our husbands also all play on the same tennis team. We're lucky to have become a close group of friends...including our husbands. What started out as four couples dining out together will now be a party of 14 when we dine out with our families after I have Ruth Ann in December. Our tennis team has a few other ladies who are also expecting...we've developed a reputation at the tennis courts for being the team with all the babies. Several ladies are afraid to join us for fear they may also end pregnant just by associating with our team!

Latest ultrasound pictures

So we got confirmation today that Baby McCarty is a baby GIRL. The ultrasound technician was 87% sure the baby was a girl at the ultrasound I had at 16 weeks. Today she changed her prediction to 98% sure (I'm not sure where she comes up with these very detailed precentages). Now let the monograming begin! For those that don't know, I got a sewing/monograming machine for christmas this past year. I've had a lot of fun working on things for friends, but now I'm ready to monogram every piece of clothing Ruth Ann will wear!

Here are some of her latest pictures. She was turned funny during the ultrasound so the technician could not get a good look at all the parts of her heart so I'll be getting another ultrasound in 4 weeks! The doctor said there is nothing to worry about and that really it's best to look at the heart around 24-26 weeks. This makes me very excited...I love getting to see how she's growing and changing.

Welcome to the McCarty Family Blog

For a while now I have been enjoying many of my friends blogs. I love checking in to see how their kids have grown or what their families are up to. When you have so many friends from college and even from childhood who live away from you it's great to have a small window into their world to keep up with what is going on in their lives. Selfishly, I never got around to creating one for my family so my friends could also enjoy what was happening in my world.

Now I have no more excuses....my very best friend, Andrea Webster, very generously offered to have one created for me. I would LOVE to take credit for how fabulous this blog looks, but 150% of the credit goes to Andrea's friend Jennisa. Jennisa has a fabulous website which I believe you can get to by the "Once Upon a Blog" icon in the bottom right hand corner of my blog if you're interested in having her help you with your own blog. If not...Google it. This is a new adventure for me and Andrea assures me it's very easy to post messages and pictures. She may be getting lots of phone calls from me to guide me through this process.

I'm most excited about keeping everyone up to date on my pregnancy & then keeping everyone updated on Baby McCarty once she arrives. I'm 20 1/2 weeks (my due date is December 8th) & for those of you who didn't know, we found out at 16 weeks we're having a baby girl. Although the ultrasound technician was pretty positive she saw girl parts, I'm waiting until my next ultrasound (which is tomorrow) to confirm she's a baby girl before I paint the nursery walls pink. We're pretty set on a name....Ruth Ann McCarty. We will call her by both names..."Ruth Ann". She will be named after my maternal grandmother "Ruth" who was and will always be a very special person in my life. She sadly passed away in September 2007 and I wish she could be here to meet this precious baby girl. However, because I believe this baby is a gift from God I know my grandmother held this baby in her arms long before the rest of us will get to meet her in December. I also love that her name will mean Gracious Friend (Ruth means Friend and Ann means Gracious).

I hope everyone enjoys the pictures and posts as much as I have enjoyed viewing theirs. Please be patient with me as I learn how this works and thanks in advance to all those who have helped or who will help me as I need further help!
